Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
Customers should ensure appropriate workplace occupational health and safety (OH&S) guidelines are adopted when working with uncured synthetic resin prepreg products. Appropriate measures should be taken to avoid contact with skin and eyes i.e. always wear gloves, since repeated unprotected skin contact with a prepreg can cause an allergic reaction.
A prepreg is supplied with a protective film on both sides, which should not be removed until the final mould lay-up stage of fabrication. The protective film should be kept on the uncured prepreg resin during the ‘cut to shape’ preparation stage.
Prepregs have little if any fibrous dust. In their uncured solid state, prepregs are relatively safer to handle than a liquid resins which have the problems of splash, leaks and spillage .
Prepregs are also volatile-free at normal ambient temperatures.
